The Bay of Angels
Chagall created this image from a commission by the French Tourist Office to promote Nice and the Cote d'Azur in foreign countries. It proved one of the most successful ventures in French history. This piece was hand signed especially for Chagall's friend, Martin Riskin, a famous Hotelier and Chevalier of Music. Riskin upon retirement sold his entire collection to renowned autograph dealer, Sy Kessler in New York.
