Colombe, with drawing of flower

This lithograph was created as a second edition, limited to 500. It was done after the drawing, and to resemble its likeness. The Dove of Peace was conceived as a logo for the World Congress of Partisans for Peace in London in 1950. It later served as the logo for the Paris Peace Movement in Cannes, 1961. Picasso willingly created original designs, motifs, and logos when asked for them, if he felt either a political, artistic, or symbolic connection with the publication or cause. Picasso contributed to scores of press-related material, adding his artistic strength. A small original drawing of a flower was created by Picasso near the date in crayon.
