This beautiful composition was created for a conference of the International Federation for Women in 1950. The image depicts his lover from1944 to 1953, Francoise Gilot. She is the mother of his children, Claude Picasso and Paloma Picasso. She later married the American vaccine pioneer and inventor of the Polio vaccine, Jonas Salk. Gilot was more than just Picasso's lover: she was a mother, organizer, muse, conversation partner, hostess, artist, and an art critic.
