L' Ange au Chandelier; The Angel in the Chandelier

This is a lithographic poster done by Marc Chagall and Charles Sorlier for an exhibition at the Musee National Message Biblique in Nice, France. The scene depicts an angel floating in an expansive sky while holding a candelabra that beautifully lights the angel. Both the angel and the candelabra evoke religious sentiments, symbolizing faith, tradition and piety. The dark blue was often used by Chagall to represent peace and tranquility creating a harmonious and compelling work of art.
