Mt. Hood sonoma Valley

An immigrant to America, Hamil Ma grew up in the barrios of Los Angeles. He attended Cal-State LA where he met his wife, Charlotte, and graduated with a bachelor degree in Physics. Upon completing a Masters of Physics at the University of California Irvine, he decided that art was his true passion. After acquiring their graduate degrees, Hamil and Charlotte moved to Ridgecrest, CA and while living in the Mojave Desert Hamil refined his watercolor landscape work in the Sierra-Nevada Mountain range. His work in this period consists mainly of picturesque mountain scenes and desert wildflowers. Focused on realism, his worked covered all seasons in the "Eastern Sierras" and captured the hearts of locals throughout Owens Valley. He did annual shows at the Maturango Museum in Ridgecrest. In 1995, Hamil moved with his family to Michigan, where the abrupt departure from his beloved Sierras and desert-scape triggered a remarkable change in his artwork.
