Affiche; Vive la Paix

This image was created for the cover of the L’Humanite in 1954. Since 1901, when Picasso signed his name ‘P. Ruiz Picasso’, the giant of Modernism placed his artwork on the covers of magazines, new papers, and art publications throughout Europe. He willingly created original designs, motifs and logos when he felt either a political, artistic or symbolic connection with the publication. From the Barcelona art review, the Art Joven, to the French Surrealist magazine, the Minotaure, Picasso contributed to scores of press related material, adding to them artistic strength.
